The North American Sea Glass Association (NASGA) was formed by a group of professional sea glass collectors, authors, artisans, and retailers. The primary goal of the NASGA is to establish a community of informed collectors and sellers of sea glass that are educated on the characteristics and significance of genuine sea glass.
NASGA is establishing guidelines to differentiate genuine from fake sea glass, and offer the NASGA retail/commercial member and collectors educational materials via newsletters, lectures, workshops, festivals, and links to websites.
Many thanks and congratulations to all the attendees, vendors, exhibitors, volunteers and staff who made our first two festivals in Santa Cruz such a great success.

Founders of the NASGA are leaders in their fields and respected members of the sea glass community: Richard LaMotte author of Pure Sea Glass, Charles Peden owner of By the Bay Treasures, internationally recognized sea glass jewelers, artists in other retail businesses, as well as experienced collectors. Congratulations to our “Shard of the Year Contest” winner of $1000: Kathleen Jones of Colorado. The winning shard was a large, well frosted, bright orange piece with deep hydration. The winning sea glass shard beat out well over 800 entries. We look forward to seeing all of you October 11 -12, 2008. The Sea Glass Festival will be held in Lewes, Delaware on the University of Delaware, College of Marine Studies campus. Perhaps one of your prized pieces of sea glass might win next time.
