SHARD OF THE YEAR CONTEST

Shard of the Year (“SOTY”) is held in memory of Joanne Schrieber, founder of the 2004 North East Sea Glass Festival. Private collectors are given an opportunity to show off some of their collections and win a cash prize.

A grand prize is awarded to the winner of the Overall Beauty category.

Grand Prize Overall Beauty Winner will receive $500     All other Category Winners will receive $100

All shards of genuine sea glass from around the world are eligible for entry, not just shards from “North America.”

Shards entered in the Shard of the Year Contest must be submitted by the person who found the specimens.  Submitted entries must be authentic, unaltered and naturally found at/in the body of water stated on the Shard of the Year entry card.

A total of three (3) shards may be entered on an entry card. Each card is $5.00.

Shard Of the Year cards will be sold all day Saturday (no cards can be submitted until Sunday).

Shard of the Year cards will be sold and submitted on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in Governor’s Hall.

Judging will take place and winner’s will be announced during a ceremony starting at 2:45 p.m. in Governor’s Hall.  (Must be present to win)

The Shard of the Year contest is sponsored by the North American Sea Glass Association.
